CHILE: Frei should push Piñera close

The presidential candidate for the right-wing Coalición por el Cambio, Sebastián Piñera, is the favourite to win the second round run-off on 17 January. He won by an emphatic margin in the first round last month and he has led every opinion poll since. But, it promises to be a much closer affair than many commentators thought, especially considering the urban bias of the most recent polls: the candidate for the ruling Concertación coalition, Eduardo Frei, is much stronger than Piñera in rural areas.
